Researchers from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden have conducted a study comparing the effectiveness of two radiolabeled somatostatin analogs, 177Lu-octreotate and 177Lu-octreotide, in treating neuroblastomas in mice. The study found that 177Lu-octreotide had slightly better anti-tumor effects than 177Lu-octreotate. Fractionated administration of the analogs resulted in higher survival rates, suggesting receptor saturation as an explanation. Gene expression analyses indicated that both radiopharmaceuticals activated apoptosis through the extrinsic pathway. Further research is needed to explore the potential of these treatments for high-risk neuroblastoma patients. [Extracted from the article]
