A recent study conducted at the University of Zagreb in Croatia has found that a positive family history, particularly in the mother, is an important determinant for the development of arterial hypertension (AH). The study examined 1784 participants and collected data through a structured questionnaire. The analysis showed a statistically significant difference in the incidence of AH between those with a positive family history of AH and the normotensive group. The study concluded that individuals with mothers who have arterial hypertension are at a higher risk of developing AH themselves, highlighting the importance of family history in assessing risk factors for hypertension.
