Introduction: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the ten main causes of mortality in Indonesia. The high prevalence and mortality rate due to COPD shows the importance of early detection and management of COPD. Underdiagnosis of COPD reduces the accuracy of mortality data, the accuracy of diagnoses recorded in databases in health administration is less clear. The gold standard for COPD diagnosis is spirometry. Application of spirometry as a screening tool includes assessment of the magnitude of underdiagnosis, potential and effective interventions, prediction of spirometry accuracy and spirometry clinical profile. This community service aims to increase the capacity of health workers regarding the role of spirometry as an early detection tool for COPD in primary health facilities. Method: This service is in collaboration with the Purwodiningratan Community Health Center, Surakarta City. The method used is to provide education and spirometry training to health workers in the community health center area. To determine the level of knowledge of health workers, activity evaluations are carried out in the form of pre and post-tests. Results and Discussion: The number of activity participants was 18 health workers consisting of general practitioners and nurses in the Purwodiningratan health center working area. The evaluation results show that health workers already have sufficient knowledge about spirometry, but are still lacking in the operation and interpretation of spirometry results. So it still requires counseling and training. The evaluation results showed that the average pre-test score was 51.11 and the post-test score was 72.77. So there is an increase in value of 21.66 points. The lowest pre-test score is 20 and post-test is 50, while the highest pre-test score is 80 and post-test is 100. Conclusion: There is increased knowledge about the role of spirometry as an early detection tool for COPD among health workers in the Purwodiningratan Community Health Center working area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
