A study conducted by researchers at the University for Health Sciences in St. Louis, Missouri, examined the impact of homeownership on the prevalence of chronic health conditions in the United States. Using data from the 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, the researchers found that homeowners generally had a lower prevalence of chronic health conditions compared to renters, especially among those aged 45 to 64 years. The odds of having chronic health conditions were higher among renters for coronary heart disease, diabetes, asthma, stroke, and kidney disease. The study suggests that housing-related interventions could be used to improve population health. [Extracted from the article]
