A new report discusses research findings on type 2 diabetes and the effect of rosuvastatin, a statin medication, on oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study was conducted in Andhra Pradesh, India, and involved 24 patients with T2DM who were administered rosuvastatin tablets for 12 weeks. The results showed that rosuvastatin had a lipid-lowering effect and increased antioxidant markers, while decreasing oxidant markers. The researchers concluded that rosuvastatin could have a beneficial effect on cardiovascular risk in patients with T2DM by reducing oxidative stress and LDL-C levels. [Extracted from the article]
