A recent study conducted at the University of Sydney in Australia examined the adherence of patients to a digital weight loss program that combines behavioral and pharmacological therapy. The study found that the mean program adherence was 171.2 days, with inadequate supply of medication being the most common reason for discontinuation. Ethnicity and age were found to have a significant effect on patient adherence. The study suggests that while digital weight loss services have the potential to improve access to comprehensive obesity care, improvements are needed to mitigate common factors that lead to program attrition.
