A recent study conducted in China found that many cancer survivors are hesitant to receive influenza vaccines, despite being at a higher risk for severe complications from the flu due to their compromised immune systems. The study, which surveyed 500 participants from five tertiary hospitals, revealed that 42.06% of cancer survivors reported vaccine hesitancy. Factors associated with vaccine hesitancy included concerns about vaccine safety, lack of information from doctors, and limited access to vaccination services. The researchers emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns and improving doctor-patient communication to increase influenza vaccine uptake among cancer survivors.
