A recent study conducted by researchers at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, explored the use of CT imaging to predict the response to neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study included 178 patients from four different centers and compared the performance of a traditional radiomics model with a tumor internal heterogeneity habitat model. The results showed that the tumor internal heterogeneity habitat model had higher accuracy and achieved a higher area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) compared to the traditional radiomics model. The researchers concluded that CT-based quantification of intratumoral heterogeneity has the potential to inform clinical decision-making and enable personalized cancer management for NSCLC patients.
