This article discusses various issues related to the role of teachers in a curriculum study. The article makes specific reference to an 18 month curriculum study engaged in by the teachers in the Newton, Kansas, school system. The evaluation by teachers of their roles in a curriculum study is very important. It is important on the part of the principals, curriculum directors or other educational leaders not to be satisfied over the role of teachers merely because the teachers appear to work willingly. They should pay their attention towards the attitudes teachers hold toward their own efforts and the results that the teachers obtained. From the evaluation study of the Newton curriculum project, various responsibilities--that the curriculum leaders should take care of--were identified. If these responsibilities are well considered and implemented, then future curriculum work can be improved.
