The article provides brief accounts of the life and works of writer-composer Allan M'Dougall. He was born about the year 1750 in the district of Glencoe in Argyllshire, Scotland. He was employed as a tailor's apprentice where he had the misfortune to lose his eyesight, however, he earned his subsistence as a violinist. He composed verses in the vernacular Gaelic and sold them to add to his finances. Shortly before his death in 1829, he republished his small volume of poetry.
