The article focuses on the part of Great Britain in the Arab-Israeli War of 1973, giving an additional perspective on the diplomatic confrontation that accompanied the clash of Israeli, Egyptian, and Syrian armies in the Sinai desert and the Golan Heights. British assessments of the Arab's possible use of the oil weapon were more accurate than the forecasts made by U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Also, Britain after the war offered indirect assistance to Kissinger's diplomatic efforts, particular on the Egyptian-Israeli disengagement agreement.
