The article presents a study which investigates the effectiveness of very low nicotine content (VLNC) cigarettes to nicotine replacement therapy and smoking cessation programs. It refers to an assessment of smokers wherein 1410 participants were randomly assigned to usual care within 8 weeks of low cost nicotine patches, gum or lozenges, and behavioral support. Findings indicate no significant difference in serious adverse effects.
