The article reports on research which was conducted to investigate the effect compression stockings had on physiological responses and running performance in division III collegiate cross country runners who performed a maximal treadmill test. Researchers evaluated 10 runners. They found that the use of compression stockings did not appear to improve running performance but may lead to improved exercise recovery through lower levels of blood lactate after exercise.
