Coxsackieviruses belong to enteroviruses. They are associated with various clinical syndromes, ranging from minor febrile illness to severe diseases such as central nervous and cardial symptoms. Coxsackievirus is mainly transmitted by the oral-fecal route and can be diagnosed using laboratory tests of feces or throat swab. There is no specific antiviral treatment; thus, therapy is symptomatic. In occupational and travel medicine, a coxsackievirus infection should be part of a differential diagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
