People with disabilities, as well as the elderly, often face difficulties in accessing websites, thus preventing their equal participation in social and economic life. The need to comply with standards that enhance the accessibility of websites is a prime example of the steps that need to be taken for recognizing in practice everyone's right to information. In the European Union, a relevant Directive describes the compliance framework for the accessibility of public organizations' websites. There are international standards for website accessibility that set out the technical specifications that are required to be followed. Compliance with international standards can be achieved initially through applications and tools that perform automated evaluation. However, in order to ensure a higher level of accessibility, the personalized intervention of specialized personnel is additionally required, as well as the inquiry / recording of the user experiences that face obstacles in accessibility.
