A recent report from the National Cancer Centre Singapore explores the classification of HER2-negative breast cancers based on ERBB2 copy number alteration (CNA) status. The study found that ERBB2 non-neutral breast cancers had higher levels of genetic aberrations on chromosome 17, including BRCA1, NF1, TP53, MAP2K4, and NCOR1. Additionally, these non-neutral cases showed upregulation of pathways related to the cell cycle, proteasome, and DNA replication. The research suggests that further investigation into concurrent aberrations in other genes on chromosome 17 is warranted. [Extracted from the article]
