The purpose of this article is to present a dermatoglyphic method of estimating the probability of 21-trisomy mosaicism by means of a discriminant function, based on the results of an analysis of 173 mosaics and 302 normal subjects. A dermatoglyphic method of indicating complete and incomplete 21-trisomy by means of discriminant function is explained and illustrated with examples. The value of the individual discriminate cannot be the indication of a proportion of trisomic cells in blood, as no appreciable correlation was found between these two indices.
