A recent study conducted by researchers at Sichuan University in China explores the potential of theranostic nanomedicine for personalized cancer treatment. The study focuses on the development of Lu-177-DOTA-PEG-CPNs, a new theranostic nanoformulation for targeted diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The researchers found that these nanoparticles effectively bonded with breast cancer cells, leading to cell apoptosis and inhibition of cell viability. In animal models, the radiotracer showed notable accumulation at tumor sites and resulted in significant tumor inhibition, with some mice being cured and showing no tumor recurrence. The study suggests that this research could provide new insights for traditional nanomedicines and contribute to the clinical translation of Lu-177 radiolabeled compounds.
