A specific example of migration on the Mediterranean’s coasts is that of the aristocratic migrants who fled from the French Revolution and took refuge in Nice, a Savoy city at the time. Initially, Nice was a safe haven where priests and aristocrats were welcome, despite their political relations unsettle the city. In 1792, with the abolition of the French monarchy, new threats emerged, and when the French invaded Nice, the migrants were forced to flee again. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
