According to a preprint abstract from biorxiv.org, researchers have used gene editing, confocal microscopy, and bioluminescence resonance energy transfer to study the distribution and trafficking of endogenous G proteins. They found that G proteins are present on early, late, and recycling endosomes, abundant on lysosomes, but virtually undetectable on the endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and the medial Golgi apparatus. The researchers suggest that these findings may have implications for GPCR signaling from endosomes and other intracellular compartments. However, it is important to note that this preprint has not been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
