Researchers from Northwest A&F University in Shaanxi, China have conducted a study on the effects of kojic acid (KA) on pig sperm preservation. The study found that adding KA to the diluent improved the antioxidant capacity of sperm mitochondria, reduced sperm apoptosis, and enhanced the motility parameters and other characteristics of capacitated sperm. The research suggests that KA could serve as an alternative to antibiotics in preserving sperm quality. This study provides new insights into the molecular mechanism of how KA inhibits sperm apoptosis and improves sperm parameters. [Extracted from the article]
