A report from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova in Romania highlights the importance of alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) and respiratory rehabilitation in patients with lung diseases. The study found that lung diseases, such as lung cancer, pulmonary tuberculosis, and obstructive ventilatory dysfunctions, have a high incidence worldwide. AAT, which inhibits protease activity in the body, was found to have increased values in advanced stages of the disease. The study also showed that respiratory rehabilitation programs can lead to improvements in clinical and functional parameters for patients with lung diseases. The researchers emphasize the need for an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment and control of lung diseases. [Extracted from the article]
