A recent study conducted by researchers at the Universita degli Studi di Milano in Milan, Italy, aimed to investigate the prognostic value of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) levels in premenopausal women at risk of breast cancer. The study followed 235 at-risk premenopausal women for 17 years and measured their baseline plasma levels of PCSK9. The results showed that PCSK9 did not appear to have a role as a prognostic biomarker for breast neoplastic events in these women. The researchers suggest that larger studies are needed to further investigate this topic in different patient populations. [Extracted from the article]
