A recent report from the Huzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China provides new insights into the genetic characterization of the influenza A virus subtype H1N1. The study found that the virus has acquired mutations that can increase disease severity. However, the recommended vaccine strain A/Wisconsin/67/2022 is still effective against the circulating H1N1 virus in Huzhou. The virus in Huzhou currently has low pathogenicity and is naturally resistant to amantadines. Regular molecular surveillance is important to monitor changes in the virus and the emergence of new strains. [Extracted from the article]
