The article describes the result of archaeological excavation at the Church of St. Andrew a Steyning in West Sussex, which was discussed at the summer meeting of the Royal Archaeological Institute in Chichester, England in 1985. It reveals that the church was owned by the monks of Fécamp abbey, and was a Saxon minster and was the seat of a college of secular canons after the Norman Conquest. Analysis shows that there was an early medieval settlement within the churchyard.
