The bulk Fe/Cu multilayer laminates with an Fe layer thickness of about 80nrn have been successfully produced by repeated hot- and cold-rolling feom a macroscopic stack of metal sheets. The stacks adjusted to 17 wt% Cu and the balance Fe metal sheets were hot-rolled and reduced 98% by cold rolling. The Fe/ Cu laminates were then tempered at a temperature of 1050°C for a laminate thickness of 1mm, cold-rolled again to a thickness of 0.07 mm and aged at 450°C. The Fe/Cu multilayer laminates exhibited a high coercive force of 23 Oe, a residual flux density of 15 kG, a maximum flux density of 17 kG, and a squareness ratio of 0.87 parallel to the rolling direction with maximum strength of 1249 MPa. This material could be used as a semi-magnetic material by application of the dynamic change in its magnetization by an external magnetic field, as in a latching relay for electric automatic exchange and semi-fixing memory to memorize information and repeatedly read it out.
